Invite and manage users and roles

1 min read

Invite people to your organisation with the right role, revoke pending invitations, block and unblock members, and see what each role is for.

Who can do this

Manage Users is in the account menu (your avatar at the top right) only for Owners of the selected organisation.

Manage users #

Manage Users lists everyone in the current organisation.

A blocked user keeps their Stride account but can’t open this organisation.

  • Search name filters the list.
  • Show Invitations switches to pending invitations, where you can Revoke one.

Invite a user #

  1. Click + Invite User.
  2. Enter their Email and Name.
  3. Choose an Organisation Role: Admin, Editor or Owner.
  4. Click Save. They receive an invitation email; see Join an existing organisation.

Plan

Your plan limits the number of users. Active (unblocked) members plus pending invitations that haven’t expired count towards the limit. At the limit, a new invitation fails with “User limit reached…” and unblocking fails with “Usage limit reached. Unblock denied.” Block someone or revoke an invitation to free a place, or upgrade your plan.

Changes live systems

If your organisation moves to a plan with a lower user limit, Stride blocks every member except the organisation’s first Owner (the earliest-created one) and deletes all pending invitations. Unblock people one by one afterwards, within the new limit.

Update a user #

Click a user’s name to open Update User. Depending on your role, you can:

  • change their Name and Organisation Role, then click Save
  • click Update Password to send them a password-reset email
  • click Send Verification link if they haven’t verified their email yet
  • click Deactivate Account (or Activate Account) and confirm

Roles #

RoleTypically can
OwnerEverything, including Manage Users, My Plan, billing, organisation settings and integrations.
AdminIntegrations, templates, experiences and functions.
EditorCreate and edit experiences and run the functions they’re allowed. Usually can’t change integrations or users.

What each role can do is configured per plan by the Stride team, so your organisation may differ. Individual functions can also be limited to certain roles. If a page or button is missing, see Why can’t I see a page or button?
